This charcoal grill from the well known brand Cuisinart is super popular with customers.  On the Amazon page for example, there are over 1000 individual customer ratings, with more than half of them giving it full 5 stars out of 5.

What makes it great for RVing is just how lightweight and compact it is - it weighs a mere 2 pounds.

And the 3 secure lid locks are really tight, so you don’t have to worry about getting the RV messy when you pack it back up again.  To that end, there’s also a handy ash catcher situated underneath the cooking surface.  Good for dealing with mess and good for safety.

Despite it’s space saving size however, it has plenty of cooking surface area.  150 square inches to be exact.  So this one’s not just for couples, it will keep the kids fed too.  It can easily handle 6 burgers at a time.

And you get ultimate temperature control thanks to the dual venting system, giving you the option to look low and slow for really thorough heating, or give it a quick blast of heat to seal in those flavors and get those sear marks.

As you’d expect from an established brand like Cuisinart, the heat is delivered both evenly and efficiently.

It features a really durable enamel coated firebox, and comes on a very small yet sturdy stand.

It’s available in black or bright red.

The other thing we love about it is the awesome price - a top quality portable grill for under $30.

While you’re on the Amazon page, you can also check out Cuisinart’s own grilling tools.

  • Very affordable

This little grill from the well established Weber is a bestseller that’s amazingly popular with customers - if you check out the Amazon page, you’ll see that even after 1,500 individual customer ratings, the average customer rating comes out at 5 stars out of 5.

The stainless steel burner is quick to heat up, and boasts 189 square inches of total cooking surface, which is a lot more than you’d expect when you see it’s small size.  So you can easily feed a family of four.  And with its tall lid you can fit a small roast or chicken in there if you wanted.

We think the fold away extension tables come in really handy for meal prep.

There’s an easy start electronic ignition system, which makes operating the machine a breeze.

And once it gets going it heats your food really evenly, thanks to its shroud providing excellent circulation of heat around the food.

And we love how the split grates mean you can do both grate and griddle cooking - so versatile.  They’re super easy to clean too.

Speaking of cleaning, there’s also a grease management system, whereby an angled grease tray captures the fat dripping off from the meat, and channels it into a disposable catch pan.  When you’re done cooking, you simply put the pan in the trash.

As for the burner tubes, they’re highly resistant to rust and burn through, and they allow you to adjust the heat as you see fit.

For the fashion conscious it sports an excellent selection of color options.  We like the red one and the blue one.

Pros

  • Well established brand
  • Amazing customer feedback
  • An Amazon bestselle
  • Compact and portable
  • Plenty of cooking surface
  • Grease management system
  • Easy start ignition
  • Even heating
  • Excellent color options

Cons

  • Premium product at a premium price
  • You have to pay separately if you want the stand too
  • As it’s a gas grill, you miss out on the smokey taste you get from a charcoal grill

You’ve probably heard of Pit Boss, they’re known country wide for their grills and smokers.

This grill is one of their more portable varieties, and it really lives up to the name.  And as you’d imagine it’s a bestseller.

It’s a compact grill and is designed to be portable.  Again with folding legs, so you don’t need to fork out any extra money for a stand.  The legs are thick and sturdy too.

But despite it’s relatively small dimensions, it offers a staggering 276 square inches of cooking surface.  No one’s going to go hungry with this baby.

It features two independently controlled burners, which we think is great because it gives you ultimate control over cooking temperature, allowing you to have food cooking at two different temperatures if necessary.

Its burners are super efficient too, with a whopping 10,000 BTUs meaning you get your food heated up incredibly quickly.

There’s a built in thermometer in the lid, which we love, since cooking with a lid on allows you to cook with more moisture.

Once the gas is hooked up, it's easy to get it going, simply push and turn the ignition.

We love the stainless steel construction - not only is it super sleek looking, but it's also really durable too, and you’ll get a good long life out of it.

Customers have a heck of a lot of praise for it, with most Amazon customers rating it at 5 stars out of 5.

It’s stand out feature is it’s small rectangular dimensions, which make it super easy to store, and fit away.

It’s just as easy to transport too, with one handle in the lid and one on the side.  Once the lid is locked in place, you can simply carry it like you would a suitcase.

Despite its relatively small dimensions though, it offers a large 160 square inches of cooking surface area.  Big enough to fit about 6 burgers plus a few chicken wings.

It’s available at a far cheaper price than their propane grills, and better yet, you don’t have to pay extra for a special stand.  Instead it has fold-out stainless steel legs, which aren’t as flimsy as you might think and actually provide a very sturdy and stable cooking area.

Unlike some charcoal grills, this beauty features dampers, so you can control and tweak the cooking temperature as needed.

It’s a well constructed build with porcelain casing designed to avoid any rust or peeling.

Best RV Grills - Buyers Guide

Here are some things you might like to think about before buying your RV grill.

Portability and Capacity

The portability and cooking capacity of your RV grill are like 2 sides of the same coin.  The more portable your grills is the less cooking capacity it has and vice versa.

Of course, when you have limited space for items, you want your grill to be small and relatively small and compact.  But you don’t want it to be too compact, or you won’t have enough cooking surface area to grill enough meat for everybody.

If there’s just two of you then this doesn’t really present an issue - all of the RV grills out on the market today will typically feed at least two of you at a time.  When you have kids or others with that’s another matter.  Especially when they’re hungry!

And when it comes to storing it in your RV, the shape of the grill matters as much as the dimensions, which is one of the reasons we like our Number 4 pick, the Weber 121020 Go-Anywhere Charcoal Grill.

If there’s a few of you to feed, and you’re specifically after a large grill for your RVing however, then we recommend our Number 3 pick, the Pit Boss Grills 75275 Stainless Steel Two-Burner Portable Grill, since it offers a total of 276 square inches of cooking surface.

Fuel Choice

For an RV grill your fuel options are charcoal or gas (propane).  Each has their own advantages and drawbacks, and at the end of the day which one to go for kind of comes down to simple personal preference.

A charcoal grill will give your food a light smoky flavor, while a gas grill produces more steam giving the meat that much loved juice and moisture.  And either way you’ll get those delicious sear marks.  (Apologies if we’re making your mouth water!)

One of the biggest differences between charcoal grills and propane grills is the price point.  You can usually get a good charcoal grill for under $50, whereas a propane grill on the other hand could set you back over $200.

Our Top 5 picks are predominantly propane grills, but if you’re after a charcoal grill, then we can recommend our Number 1 pick, the Cuisinart CCG190RB Portable Charcoal Grill.

Did you know?

Many portable grills can make a great choice for your RVing, but did you know that you can get grills that come with a special bracket to mount right onto the side of your RV, and you can run it from the RV’s own self-contained LP gas system?

If that’s something you might be interested in, check out our Number 5 pick, the Flame King RV Or Trailer Mounted BBQ.

Quick to heat up

If you’ve been driving in your RV for several hours and you’re getting rather hungry, you may be feeling quite impatient to get your food cooked, so a grill that heats up really quick is a great plus.

As a general rule, propane grills typically heat up quicker than charcoal grills.

How fast a grill heats up is measured by its BTU, and from our Top 5 picks the one with the highest BTU is the Number 3 pick, the Pit Boss Grills 75275 Stainless Steel Two-Burner Portable Grill.

Easy to clean

After you’ve stopped to eat, you may well want to just pack straight up again and head off somewhere else, so what you’re looking for ideally is a grill that can simply be wiped down and packed away without leaving excess mess.

So a charcoal grill with an ash catching tray will help with that, like our Number 1 pick, the  Cuisinart CCG190RB Portable Charcoal Grill.  Or alternatively, for a propane grill, you should look for one with a grease management system, like our Number 2 pick, the Weber 51010001 Q1200 Liquid Propane Grill.

And when it comes to keeping things clean, it’s always good to get a grill with a lockable lid, so you don’t get any ash or grease spilling out when the RV is on the move.  Our Number 1 pick, the Cuisinart CCG190RB Portable Charcoal Grill has a good lockable lid.

Other features

Many grillers like to grill their meats with the lid on, as this helps to better circulate the heat.  Most of the grills in our Top 5 will allow you to grill with the lid on, and one even features a thermometer in the lid, so you can see how hot the grill is without having to remove the lid.  It’s our Number 3 pick, the Pit Boss Grills 75275 Stainless Steel Two-Burner Portable Grill.
